Frequently Asked Questions

Was everything free at this pantry? 1 responses

User Answers

Yes, although you'll have to arrange your transport for yourself. Answered Mar 28, 2023

Have you ever used this service? How was it? 1 responses

User Answers

I volunteer at this service; sometimes we have few (or even no) clients, and other times we get flooded with clients, and this occasionally leads to screwups. For best results, we recommend being patient while picking up your groceries; putting us under pressure while we're assembling them for you only increases the likelihood of our making mistakes. Answered Mar 28, 2023

Were there large lines at this location? 1 responses

User Answers

Sometimes there have been. Insider's tip: lines are usually shortest during the Winter months, and during the first week of each month. Answered Mar 28, 2023

Do you know if they deliver? 1 responses

User Answers

Sometimes our volunteers will deliver an order to a client they know personally, and sometimes we fill orders for special requests from our donors and other associates on behalf of extremely poor clients who have no transportation of their own. Answered Mar 28, 2023

Do you know if there is an income limit to get free food at this location? 1 responses

User Answers

By law, your household income does have to be below a certain level as defined by North Carolina's government for you to qualify. Check with the state's government websites concerning charity and welfare for details. Answered Mar 28, 2023

Are documents required to get food? 1 responses

User Answers

Some proof of your income (or lack thereof) is necessary, yes. Answered Mar 28, 2023

Do you have to live in pilot mountain 1 responses

User Answers

You have to live within a certain region (which includes Pilot Mountain) to receive a full handout. Outside that region, you can still qualify for a more limited TEFAP handout as long as you reside somewhere in North Carolina. Answered Mar 28, 2023

I donated $500 there today. And NOBODY could give me a receipt. That is a huge flaw in your program. And I will get a receipt in the mail in the next two days or I will go to the Methodist Church who donates to you and to the newspaper and say don't support you guys. Really? Nobody can give me a receipt as long as you have been in business?
