Other Options Inc. Friends Food Pantry

The main program of Other Options is the Friends Food Pantry, which offers nutrient dense foods, nutrition formula and toiletries to over 1,064 adults and children who can shop weekly.
It is estimated that Other Options offer 21 meals (7 breakfasts, 7 lunches, 7 dinners) per customer number.
These men, women and children live below the poverty line.
At least one family member lives with HIV or AIDS.
Food pantry shoppers are prequalified by other agencies in the fields of HIV and AIDS.
Most of their food is purchased in bulk with grants from the Oklahoma Regional Food Bank.
Other options also relies on companies, churches and individuals to donate additional food items that they are unable to obtain from the Food Bank.
There are a wide range of funding requirements to enable other options to provide such necessary and important services to the aforementioned target populations.
In summary, the cost of operating the Friends Food Pantry is approximately $5,500 per month.

The Friends Food Pantry at Other Options is the only free food source in area codes 405 and 580 for the HIV population in Oklahoma.
The number of people living with HIV/AIDS in Oklahoma is growing significantly, which is an ongoing burden for other options to improve its funding sources.

Other Options recognizes that this target population of children, adolescents, men, and women with HIV disease typically requires a higher intake of protein and complex carbohydrates, as well as special formulations for traumatized babies and adults.
This target population is unable to obtain this higher level food due to income restrictions and other urgent needs.
Other options suggests increasing their ability to buy to balance the urgent needs of children and adults and supplement with additional food sources.
