The Food Bank's mission is to provide nutritious food to the low-income residents of the City of Alameda on a non-discriminating basis. Last year the Food Bank's 100+ regular volunteers served an average of 1,350 individual recipients per month. The Food Bank is one of Alameda's primary social service organizations and in addition to its regular food distribution program, is the only Alameda distribution site for USDA government surplus food.The community need continues to increase. There has been a 44% increase in clients served since 2001.
